Mr. Paul Elwood Hunter is an oil painter from Piermont Ny. Self-taught, he has developed his own unique style and “feel” within is works. Land and Seascapes are his choice of subjects. Capturing the beauty; of nature
on canvas and wood is a gift he shares.

Paul’s artwork has been influenced by his Great Grandfather who was a respected and known NYC oil painter and one of Tiffany’s most skillful stain glass designer and artist.  Another source of inspiration is the works of the artists who formed the “Hudson River School”. Thomas Cole, Frederic Church and Asher Durand are a few of the artists from the 19th Century.

The Hudson Valley if rife with natural formations, tranquil lakes, majestic mountains, all of which are elements found in Paul’s paintings. He has a true love for nature.

Mr. Hunter participated in 2 “artist in residency” programs. One at Byrdcliffe, Woodstock, NY and Ilhabella, Sao Paulo, Brazil. There he enjoyed peace and quiet
to hone his skills. An immersive experience fostering collaboration, communal living and cultural enrichment. When Paul isn’t painting, he enjoys hiking, exercising and loving is new granddaughter Ava!

Additionally, as a teen, Paul had a near death experience in a car wreck. He sustained multiple injuries including a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Amazingly he went on to earn his BS degree and enjoyed a prosperous business career. He is an advocate and instructor of Art Therapy for those who suffer.
